Economist, Dr Guste Santini and physician, Dr Miljenko Bura both promote and develop the notion that there has been a big jump in “medical tourism” in Croatia and that the nation is perfect for guests from the “golden generation”.

A large number of elderly citizens are financially secure and that combined with Croatia’s first class natural features, makes it the perfect destination to come for healing.

Santini also sees the huge potential in the revival of the hinterland areas and the isolated islands of Croatia as “medical” destination areas with the increase in interest in medical tourism, adding that it would be cheaper to enjoy 15 days in Croatia with its beautiful natural and cultural heritage, and do some of the more demanding surgical, dental or ophthalmic surgery at the same time, than to have it done in their home countries such as Milan, Vienna, Zurich or Berlin.
